Ingredients for chocolate cake mix on the counter and a glass bowl for mixing

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

Add your Chocolate Mix, Vegetable Oil, Water, and Eggs to the bowl and mix

Stirred cake mix being poured into a 13x9-inch baking dish

Spray your cake pan with a non-stick spray to keep your cake from sticking

And then pour in your cake batter and stick it in the oven for about 30 minutes

Pudding in a glass bowl with cool whip being poured into the pudding, then stirred thoroughly

Now get your instant pudding mix, mix it with the milk then stir it in a large bowl until it thickens

After it starts to thicken, add the entire tub of whipped cream to the pudding and stir

Empty plastic cup with only 1 layer of crushed cake mix, in the second image there is pudding and whipped cream mix on top of the crushed cake mix, the 3rd image has cake mix on top, the 4th image has pudding and whipped cream mix on top, then finally there is crushed cake mix on top

When the cake cools to room temperature, I like to mash the cake into fine crumbs

Pack the cake crumbs in tightly at the bottom before putting the pudding mixture on the next layer, then the cake crumbs, then the pudding mixture on the next layer, and repeat

Continue until you reach the top with several pudding and cake layers

Cup of oreo dirt cake with crushed oreos on the top, with cake sprinkled around it on the counter

Crush the Oreos (or chocolate cookies) until you get Oreo cookie crumbs and sprinkle a little bit onto the top of the cake

It was easier for me to put the Oreos into a plastic bag and hit them with a rolling pin

I recommend covering your Oreo Dirt cups with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out

Add Variety to your Dirt Cakes

  • Gummy worms instead of Oreos to make it more fun for each individual cup.
  • M&Ms makes a great addition to your dirt cake.
  • Crush cookies instead of Oreos
  • Use vanilla cake mix instead of chocolate cake mix
